FinallyAKitchen.com Photo Shoot!

FinallyAKitchen.com has a whole new look, thanks to the photographic mastery of Chris Chludenski and art direction of Becca Hackett-Levy!

The warm, retro look of the pictures was attained by shooting with a vintage Polaroid Propack EE Instant Camera, with a Smith Victor two-bar movie light attached. Check-out Chris’s blog, Fauxtogservations, and you’ll see that he specializes in Polaroid photography.

It goes without saying that I cooked them dinner during the course of the shoot, but to save myself some time to focus on the task at hand I picked two of my favorite, tried-and-true recipes from other people’s kitchens; balsamic sesame chicken drumettes by Giada De Laurentiis…

…and a heavenly garlic bread made with fresh herbs by The Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten.

My original contribution was this spring salad, with organic mixed greens, red onion, Belgian endive, Gouda cheese, walnuts and dried cranberries tossed with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt + pepper. I take 100% of the blame for the picture of the salad not coming out so clearly; I was so hungry by the time we all sat down for dinner that I hurried Chris into taking the shot quickly so we could start eating!

Thanks, Becca and Chris! You two are both amazing artists and great friends!
